Brains of the Future was founded by two sisters, Komal and Yana Brahmankar, whose lives were forever changed after witnessing the impact Alzheimer's disease had on their grandfather and their family. Watching someone they loved gradually lose memories, independence, and pieces of who they were opened their eyes to the emotional challenges that millions of families experience every day.
At the same time, as teenagers, they saw classmates, friends, and members of their community quietly struggling with mental health challenges. Too often, these struggles went unnoticed or misunderstood because of stigma and a lack of awareness.
Although they knew they could not solve these challenges on their own, they believed they could make a difference by educating others, serving their community, and inspiring young people to become advocates for change.
What began as a simple idea between two sisters has grown into a youth-led movement dedicated to raising awareness, supporting Alzheimer's research, promoting mental health education, and empowering students to lead with compassion, service, and purpose.
Every event we organize, every volunteer we inspire, and every dollar we raise brings us one step closer to a future filled with greater understanding, stronger communities, and hope for every individual and family affected by these conditions.
